Music Break

Here are some songs I've recently run across, which are not very well-known, and for the most part previously not well-known to yours truly.

The first number is Bang! by Humble Pie, from their debut album As Safe As Yesterday Is.  Although this is the studio version, the video includes some live footage of Steve Marriott (guitar, vocals), Peter Frampton (guitar), Greg Ridley (bass) and Jerry Shirley (drums).  According to Wiki, Marriott also played piano on this one.

Jefferson Starship's 1976 album Spitfire includes Big City, featuring a rare lead vocal by drummer John Barbata.

From their 1974 album Hard Labor, this is Three Dog Night with Put Out The Light.

The title song of the Grass Roots Feelings album is thankfully very different from the Morris Albert song with the same title, but includes a marimba part that will sound very familiar to fans of the Rollings Stones.  At this time, the band included Rob Grill (bass, vocals), Creed Bratton (guitar), Warren Entner (guitar, keyboards) and Rick Coonce (drums).

Singer-guitarist Liz Phair had some success in the 1990's with songs such as Supernova, from her 1994 album Whip Smart.
