After visiting the Quarai unit of Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, I got onto New Mexico route 55 and proceeded southward back to the town of Mountainair and then continued for about 25 more mile to the Gran Quivira unit of the monument. A ramp leads from its parking up to a small visitor center and then to the large structure seen here.
I took a shot of this large room from just outside of it.
Here are some smaller rooms in a large section of ruins.
This looked like a corridor between rooms.
This wall section had three windows.
A paved walkway led to another section of ruins.
This structure looks like it might have been a church or a chapel.
The walkway led further uphill to another large ruin.
Near the ruins seen just above is this circular structure. The term "kiva" seems to be used to denote round structures within ruins in the American southwest, irrespective of whether it is above or below ground, or either part of a larger building or separate from anything else.
