Small Town With Big Things

While continuing westward from Ohio today, I crossed Indiana and later stopped off in Casey, Illinois, a small town that claims to have the world's biggest things of various types.  In downtown Casey on Main Street is the world's largest rocking chair.

Here's the chair from a different angle, more toward its front.

Across the street from the rocking chair are the world's largest wind chimes.  From this side, you can see Stars of David on the (from this angle) front and back sides.  The little girl on the right was pulling a chord which rings the chimes.

In this close up of the middle of the chimes, we see the striker attached to the other end of the cord.

From another angle, the sides without the Stars of David have the early Christian fish symbol.  Thus, if you want to blame the Jews for the chimes, you must also blame the Christians.

Walking westward down Main Street, I found this scaled-up ruler.

In front of the Tee Shirt Connection store is this pencil, whose size is "CASEY ILLINOIS No. 2", which appears to be much larger than the number 2 pencil that I used in school.

Further down Main Street is the world's largest barber pole.  The pencil is in this shot's background.

Across the street from the barber pole and the pencil in the world's largest mailbox.  I was able to edit out the car's license plate with a grey rectangle.

My last picture is of the world's largest bird cage, with the world's largest key in the background.

This post is not by any means a complete showing of the scaled-up objects in Casey, Illinois.  For more information and pictures, go to The Walking Tourists.
