Rainbow Bridge On Route 66

After my visit to Fort Scott yesterday, I drove southward to see the Rainbow Bridge, a few miles north of Baxter Springs, Kansas.  The bridge appears to be named for its shape since it doesn't have any rainbow colors, and forms a section of historic U.S. Route 66.  The bridge spans Brush Creek, and may still be driven across, but not in the direction shown here.

Walking onto the bridge, I got a shot showing the two crossbeams that connect the arches on the sides of the bridge.

I stepped away from the bridge to get a picture showing its overall shape.

The bridge's roadbed includes this historical marker, which appears to have endured a few skid marks.  There are similar markers along the road east of the bridge.
