Sites At Union Station

During my running around today, I went through Union Station in Washington, D.C.  As I did about two years ago, I took a shot of the Liberty Bell replica on the south side of the station.  Unlike then, the bell today is very clean, as seen here.  The station and a "USA 250" banner are behind it.

Also on the south side of Union Station is the Columbus Fountain, which wasn't even working two years ago.  As with the bell, the fountain is no longer marred by graffiti.

The next shot features the fountain's central column.  I think that it's Christopher himself in the middle.

Finally, here's the lion statue on the eastern end of the fountain.

For more about the Columbus Fountain, besides the above link, go to Trust For The National Mall, The Washington Times and DC Historic Sites.  Go to this blog's archives for July 2024 to compare the fountain's current appearance with that from two years ago.
