Plane Theft, And Other Stories

Yesterday at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport, a man described as a "maintenance worker" for Horizon Air took control of a Q400 turboprop (a.k.a. Dash-8), made an unauthorized takeoff, performed some maneuvers, was intercepted by fighter jets, and finally crashed, thus killing himself.  He was reportedly suicidal, but had no desire to hurt anyone else.  He was the only person on board the plane.  For a time, he was in contact with air traffic control, explaining how he could fly a plane by saying that he had "played some video games".

Looks like the "stupid people" label has been earned, along with a possible Darwin Award nomination.

In a related story from The Daily Caller, the FBI will investigate.

In other stories:

From Agence France Presse, Lesbos looks back at the migrant crisis.  (The island's name may be spelled either with a "b" or a "v", with no complaints that I know of coming from its natives.)

From The Times Of India, in Delhi, India, a man (whose name should be vaguely familiar) tries to sell his wife, but picks the wrong potential buyer.

From Gatestone Institute, public prayer in Europe.

From The Conservative Woman, yes, it's time to ban the burqa.  (The last four stories come via The Religion Of Peace.)

From The Washington Free Beacon, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights opposes an amendment proposed in the House that would "undermine immigration enforcement".

From The Slovak Spectator, the three best things to see in Špania Dolina, Slovakia.  (From my admittedly limited knowledge of Polish, which is closely related to Slovak, I can make a semi-educated guess that the town's name means something like "sleeping valley" or maybe "sleepy valley".)
