Today I resumed my exploration of northern Virginia by visiting Goose Creek Bridge Historic Park, just off U.S. route 50. On June 23rd, 1863 during the Civil War, the battle of Upperville was fought around a bridge over Goose Creek, about three miles east of Upperville, Virginia. Today, there's a small park around the bridge that is run by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. The park includes an area from which to view the bridge - and a modern power line.
The bridge runs roughly northwest to southeast. Here's a view from its southeast end.
Looking northeast from the bridge, this is a little bit of Goose Creek.
To the southwest of the bridge is a field. I took the first picture about from the area behind the fence seen towards the right.
