Today I made a road trip to Cass, a small unincorporated community in West Virginia. The place is noted for its scenic railroad, which is also a state park. Here's the railroad station, seen from the nearby parking lot. The two buildings behind it will be presented below.
The reddish brown building behind the station on one side is the Artisan's Gallery. Two tracks are in the foreground.
I took a stroll along the tracks and a pathway beside them to these rail cars, including a Chesapeake & Ohio box car and a Western Maryland hopper car.
On another siding were some more cars, including a crane car that appears to have seen better days, with an old house behind them.
Farther down the siding were two cabooses, one from the Cass Scenic Railroad and the other from the aforementioned Chesapeake & Ohio.
Further down the main tracks was a water tower, to provide water for steam engines, behind an old flat car.
Near the water tower were a coal tender, an old locomotive, and another caboose.
Before leaving, I had to take a shot of the other building behind the station, which houses the Cass Company Store, Shay's Restaurant, and a museum. In the foreground is the nearly railroad crossing.
It was now time to get back into the Bigfootmobile and drive back to my undisclosed location. However, I did make a couple of stops on the way. Stay tuned.
