If you're in Las Vegas, Nevada, and find the north-south thoroughfare Las Vegas Boulevard and drive southward, you'll eventually come across the artwork Seven Magic Mountains by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. They are not literal mountains, but seven stacks of boulders mounted vertically and painted in assorted but mostly bright colors. The site has its own parking lot, a short walk from the artwork itself. Here's what I saw while approaching it.
The lowest boulders of each set have been been marked with graffiti. This seems especially true of the dark boulder shown here. I don't know if Mr. Rondinone approves.
From the sunlight side, I got this shot showing the seven structures appear to form a row, even though they're not in a straight line.
Some small cairns appear to have been assembled by previous visitors. As the saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. You can see some real mountains in the background.
