I've just started another trip, this one to Las Vegas, Nevada, a.k.a. Lost Wages. I flew into Harry Reid International Airport, which used to be called McCarran Airport after an earlier Senator from Nevada named Pat McCarran. The earlier name is retained by its rental car center. According to my rented car's external thermometer, it got up to 105 degrees out here, even without all the hot air that Senators commonly produce. Besides being known for gambling and other vices, the city was celebrated in a song by Elvis Presley, which was later covered by ZZ Top. The late bassist Dusty Hill sang the lead vocal, and the video pays homage to the King himself.
I know this is a late posting according to eastern daylight time, but out here in the Pacific time zone, it's only about 8:20 p.m. Stay tuned for some travel stories.
