Music Break

Once again, it's about time that I put up a musical post.  This is the first one of 2021.  To start, here's the latest song I've discovered from the Scottish band Middle Of The Road, You Never Leave Me Alone.  The video is from their appearance on an Austrian TV show.  Both before and after the song, the host teases drummer Ken Andrew about playing a drum solo.  Skip to about 0:25 to when the song starts.  One camera angle shows singer Sally Carr in front of Andrew, with guitarist Neil Henderson between them.  Another shows the McCredie brothers Ian on guitar and Eric on bass.  We hear, but don't see played, a piano and a horn section.

In 1972, Chicory Tip released the song Son Of My Father, written and originally recorded in German by Giorgio Moroder as Nachts Scheint Die Sonne, which means "in the night, the sun shines".  The song features several synthesizers.

Another song originally in German that was covered (mostly) in English, and which featured synthesizers, was After The Fire's version of Der Kommissar, originally by Austrian singer Falco.

Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote songs that were recorded by the Monkees, but also performed some of their own.  In I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight, the singer seems to regret putting himself into what would later be called the "friend zone" of the girl he likes.  The song features an instrumental break by a horn section.  At around 0:55, Barbara Eden makes a cameo appearance on drums in her title role on the show I Dream Of Jeannie.

To finish, Lenny Kravitz and his band perform Are You Gonna Go My Way in a large domed room full of dancers.
