Music Break

Once again, it's been a while since I put up some music, so here is my latest set of five songs.  First up is Missionary Man by the Eurythmics from their 1986 album Revenge.  Lead singer Annie Lennox and guitarist Dave Stewart are joined by supporting musicians Patrick Seymour (keyboards), Jimmy Zavala (harmonica), Joniece Jamison (backing vocals), John McKenzie (bass), and Blondie alumnus Clem Burke (drums).  To what extent some of Lennox's moves are real or computer-generated, I don't know.

One of my old favorites is Venus by the Dutch group Shocking Blue.

In Weezer's video for their song Beverly Hills, Hugh Hefner invites the band to his house to play the song, and lets them bring some friends, if there aren't "too many dudes".

Joe Cocker's debut album With a Little Help from My Friends, whose title song is a well-known Beatles cover, includes his rendition of Feeling Alright, written by Dave Mason and recorded by his band Traffic.  Cocker slightly changed the title, which is Feelin' Alright? on Traffic's version.  I've always liked the Artie Butler's piano work on this one.

Speaking of Beatles covers, Phil Collin's 1981 album Face Value includes the psychedelic song Tomorrow Never Knows, which features some instruments recorded backwards.  If you listen closely towards the end, you can hear Phil singing a bit of Over The Rainbow.
