Monday Mania - Part 1

As the first manic Monday in October arrives, here are some things going on:

From National Review, the lies and distortions of the "1619 Project".

From FrontpageMag, the impeachment effort against President Trump is based on a trap which President Obama made for candidate Mitt Romney.

From Townhall, the liberal hate for free speech, when non-liberals use it.

From The Washington Free Beacon, the candidate running against Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) has yet to put forth any policy positions.

From the Washington Examiner, Trump's Tweet of a their song clip has been great for Nickelback.

From The Federalist, a look at a major case on abortion taken by the Supreme Court.

From American Thinker, "impeachment is getting boring".

From CNS News, Ukraine's president says that he received no pressure or conditions from Trump.

From LifeZette, the real collusion with Ukraine.

From NewsBusters, an NBC analyst gets Schifty by making up quotes from Trump.  (If you have to make up stuff in order to argue for a certain point, the act of making stuff up is in and of itself evidence against your point.)

From Canada Free Press, will Fox News become the most anti-Trump of the networks?

From CBC News, six Canadian leaders stage their last English-language debate tonight.

From Global News, according to Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, Canada's history should be celebrated, not erased by "political correctness".  (Many of his neighbors to the south, including yours truly, would like the same thing for the U.S.)

From CTV News, according to data from Nanos Research, Canadian Conservatives and Liberals are "neck and neck" in most age groups.

From TeleSUR, protests continue in Ecuador as indigenous groups march toward the capital Quito.

From The Portugal News, socialists win the general election in Portugal.

From El País, Spanish center-right parties redesign their campaign strategies.

From SwissInfo, more Swiss are voting by mail or online instead of going to the ballot box.

From ANSA, a boat carrying migrants overturns off Lampedusa, leaving at least 13 dead.

From the Malta Independent, listen up, boys and girls, there will be no more earrings in Maltese schools.

From Malta Today, Malta is reportedly "way off target" in its efforts to cut carbon dioxide emissions.  (The word "dioxide" does not appear in the article.)

From Total Croatia News, Croatian officials issue messages ahead of the country's Independence Day, which is tomorrow.

From Independent Balkan News Agency, the Vetevendosje Movement wins the parliamentary election in Kosovo.

From Ekathimerini, on the Greek island of Samothraki, things are getting baaaaaaad.

From the Greek Reporter, authorities in Athens continue to clean up the place, and remove graffiti.

From Novinite, a bomb explodes in a residential building in Montana, Bulgaria.  (Yes, there is a Montana in Bulgaria, but it has had several other names.)

From The Sofia Globe, according to Bulgaria's prime minister, the acquisition of F-16 fighter jets represents a long-term partnership which will benefit the Bulgarian Air Force.

From Radio Bulgaria, some developments in the Balkans.

From Romania-Insider, if you want to run in the Bucharest International Marathon, don't wear headphones.

From Russia Today, "send in the clowns.......don't bother, they're here."

From Sputnik International, for his birthday, Russian President Putin enjoys a walk in the woods.

From The Moscow Times, a record methane emission is found in the Russian Arctic.

From Daily News Hungary, where did the Magyars come from?  (If you read Hungarian, read the story at 24HU.)

From Hungary Today, Serbia lefts its ban on pork from Hungary.

From About Hungary, according to President János Áder, Hungary's per capita emissions are among the lowest for industrialized countries.

From The Slovak Spectator, a new business zone in Senec, Slovakia is slowly but surely coming to life.

From Radio Prague, Prague decides to terminate its sister-city agreement with Beijing, China.

From Polskie Radio, Poland's governing Law and Justice Party pledges new policies ahead of the upcoming election.

From the CPH Post, Denmark pledges 50 million kroner for helping to stabilize Syria, including mine clearance and training local mine-clearers.  (My spellchecker accepts the word "kroner".)

From Deutsche Welle, the climate activist group Extinction Rebellion protests in Berlin.  (Did they get anywhere near the embassy of China, which is the world's leading carbon dioxide emitter?)

From Euractiv, the German government wants to weaken the country's climate protection goals.

From the NL Times, climate protesters block roads at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.  (In the Netherlands, the Chinese embassy isn't even in Amsterdam but in The Hague.)

From Dutch News, Dutch farmers announce a second day of protests against proposed cuts on nitrogen emissions.  (I admit confusion as to why "nitrogen emissions" are a problem, since elemental nitrogen comprises about 78 percent of the earth's atmosphere.  Just as "carbon emissions" refers to carbon dioxide and not elemental carbon, I'm wondering if "nitrogen emissions" refers not to elemental nitrogen, but a compound such as ammonia or a nitrogen oxide.  If you read Dutch, read the story at NOS.)

From VRT NWS, as prison guards in Antwerp go on strike, the prisoners aren't able to clean themselves.

From Voice Of Europe, a group of migrant men reportedly beat "savagely" a Belgian teenage boy.  (If you read Flemish, read the story at Sceptr and HLN.)

From France24, French President Macron seeks to smooth his party's internal divisions on immigration.

From RFI, the Mona Lisa returns to its renovated room in the Louvre.

From EuroNews, Macron urges a swift decision on the latest proposed Brexit deal.

From the Express, the E.U. lists nine reasons for rejecting U.K. Prime Minister Johnson's latest Brexit proposals.

From the Evening Standard, for the first time in 10 years, a humpback whale is spotted in the Thames River in London.

From the (U.K.) Independent, Extinction Rebellion protesters shut down parts of central London.

From the (Irish) Independent, Ireland's human rights community is "demoralized" by protests against a direct provision center for migrants and racist abuse shown in a TV ad.

From the Irish Examiner, the Irish government deals with fears that foreign divorces might not be recognized in Ireland.

From The Conservative Woman, the secret drive to use U.K. taxpayer money to promote abortion in Africa.

From Free West Media, the dilemma over integration faced by Muslims.

From the New York Post, a look at the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history.  (He's not Charles Mansion, John Wayne Gacy, Wayne Williams or anyone else who easily comes to mind.)

From The Stream, why more conservative Christians support President Trump.  (One main reason might be that he's more palatable to us in the right than any of his potential Democratic rivals.)

From Fox News, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski holds an anti-impeachment rally.

From Reason, according to Senator Lyndsey Graham (R-SC), Trump is repeating Obama's foreign policy mistakes.

From the Politico, Senator Kamala Harris (D-Cal) wants taxpayers and corporation with a gender "wage gap" to pay for family leave for six months.  (via the Daily Caller)

From Breitbart, Trump signs a trade agreement with Japan.

From Twitchy, internal Democrat polling shows why Trump is daring them to hold an impeachment vote.

And from The Babylon Bee, under court order to turn over his tax returns, Trump begins punching decades' worth of data into TurboTax.
