When I read that term, in the title of this article by Mashable, I wondered, "Why bring broadband to the moon? No one lives there." As it turns out, the broadband will be the method of communication, via laser, between the LADEE satellite and earthbound communication stations. The LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer) will be launched from Virginia tomorrow, to be placed into lunar orbit.
