Back To Shenandoah National Park - Part 2

Here are some more pictures from my return to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.  Today's exploration was in an area north of where I visited two years ago.  After leaving the view point for Old Rag Mountain, I continued southward to the Franklin Cliffs overlook.  This first shot looks generally northwestward, showing some parallel ridges within the Appalachian Mountains.

The cliffs were just a short walk from the parking area, as seen here.

A short path led me to an area that included this ledge.

Another bunch of rocks was next to the parking area.

After seeing the Franklin Cliffs, I continued to my last and definitely most time-consuming stop for today.  I decided to hike to Dark Hollow Falls.  The trail wasn't very long, maybe about 3,000 feet, but is was mostly straight down from the parking area.  This, of course, meant that the return trip was about 3,000 mostly straight up.  After taking several breaks, I was able to return to the Bigfootmobile, drive back to my current undisclosed location, and present for you today's remaining pictures.  The trail leads to the top of the falls, seen here through some still-leafless vegetation.

Here's another part of the falls, seen near the top, again through leafless vegetation.

The best shot of the falls was clearly from the bottom.

This last shot looks downstream from the falls.

Although the trail continues in the downstream direction, I knew that I had gone far enough.  It was time to turn around, and as noted above, get back to the Bigfootmobile.  My further explorations of the general area I'm now in will be duly reported.  See youz soon.
