Today I ventured southward from my temporary undisclosed location and visited the Massey Air Museum, about a mile and half east of the unincorporated community of Massey, Maryland. As I drove in, I saw this old DC-3. It looks like you can have a picnic under its right wing.
On the other side of the entrance driveway from the DC-3 is an Antonov An-2, built in the Soviet Union.
I found a museum worker who proceeded to show me around the place. Visitors are allowed to climb into the cockpits of these partially assembled planes, but I didn't try it myself. I was pleased to see that Snoopy and the Red Baron had shown up.
This part of the museum also included several airplane engines and models either hanging from the ceiling or sitting on shelves.
The museum worker took me inside the DC-3 and Antonov An-2. Here's the interior of the DC-3. Everyone take your seats.
According to the museum worker, this particular DC-3 was a civilian aircraft, and Antonov is now a Ukrainian company. For this reason, and in support of Ukraine against Russia, the museum painted the Ukrainian flag on the tail. Before I left, I wanted a shot of this plane mounted on a pole. The museum worker said that it's a model, including a pilot's helmet, but without any pilot's head. In the background to the left is a light tower.
It then became time to get the Bigfootmobile back on the road and resume my exploration of eastern Maryland.
