The small town of Aurora, North Carolina has its own fossil museum, dedicated largely to marine fossils such as shark's teeth. It also includes exhibitions of Native American artifacts, most of them local to the N.C. coast, but also some from the Maya.
I saw this thing, just when I thought it was safe to walk through the halls of a museum.
The museum includes many displays of shark's teeth, such as this one.
This display illustrates the local geological strata.
Across the street is a small park, which includes this structure. I thought it looked like plastic or foam, but it's made of cement.
To learn more about the museum, go to its website linked above, and to Historic Albemarle Tour and VisitNC.
