A day after being hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, southern California was struck yesterday by a stronger 7.1 magnitude quake, both being centered near the city of Ridgecrest. The second quake was reportedly felt in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and even Reno. Ridgecrest has been hit with water main breaks, fires caused by gas leaks, and power outages.
