Staying Around The Twin Cities

Instead of setting out on a long drive from my undisclosed location, today I went on two shorter trips.  The first was to have breakfast with a friend from the blogosphere who calls himself Holger, after a legendary Danish king.  I used to listen to his show on BlogTalkRadio, back when the platform still existed.  He also has his own blog, Holger Awakens, but stopped posting in early 2021.  I first met him in person at a rally on the mall in Washington, D.C. back in 2011, along with a bunch of other fellow right wingnuts.  But in the near future, if you're in the Twin Cities area and get hungry for some breakfast, you can try out Fat Nat's Eggs.

Later in the day, I decided to go take a hike across another bridge.  This one is called Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, and spans part of Long Meadow Lake.  Like the bridge in Stillwater that I crossed a few days ago, it has middle lanes for cyclists and outer lanes for pedestrians.

I took this shot from the bridge of another bridge, by which Minnesota route 77 crosses the aforementioned Long Meadow Lake.  It's really two bridges, one for each direction.  The lake itself is full of vegetation.

The trail which was at one time been Cedar Avenue led me to the north bank of the Minnesota River.  On the other side was a boat ramp.  The shadow is cast by another section of the route 77 bridge.

I took this shot from below the route 77 bridges.  Behind the northbound lanes is a ramp that joins the bridge and allows cyclists and pedestrians to go over the Minnesota River.

After going back over the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, I hiked southwestward over an extended wooden bridge to what was called an overlook, but was really a platform just above the lake.  This shot shows part of the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, with the route 77 bridges behind it.

Finally, here is part of the wooden bridge, as seen from the platform.

Today has been different from the rest of my current trip because I got to exercise myself instead of my rented car.  In any event, I'm sure that there will be more driving and hiking before I return home.
