Before getting into today's news and views, I offer another set of songs. To start, this is Let The Music Do The Talking, the title song from the 1980 debut album of the Joe Perry Project. The group was intended to be a side project, but Perry left Aerosmith just after the JPP was formed. The original lineup, heard here, included Perry on guitar, Ralph Morman on lead vocals, David Hull on bass, and Ronnie Stewart on drums. The JPP lineup changed several times during its initial run (1979-1984) and its revival (2009-present). This song was covered and reworked by Aerosmith after Perry rejoined them. (For some reason, whoever made this video misspelled "project" as "proyect".)
In 1973, the Osmonds released The Plan, which includes One Way Ticket To Anywhere. In the video, it looks like drummer Jay Osmond sings the lead vocal.
During early 1970, Ringo Starr wrote and recorded Early 1970, in which he sings about the other three Beatles. It was released as the B-side to It Don't Come Easy. According to Wiki, Starr plays drums and acoustic guitar, George Harrison plays electric guitars including slide, and German musician Klaus Voormann plays bass. The "cookie!" in the second verse might have been contributed by John Lennon, who reportedly was a fan of the Sesame Street character Cookie Monster and muttered "cookie" in his song Hold On.
In 1993, Collective Soul released their debut single Shine, which was later covered by Dolly Parton.
Today's last tune comes from the "I don't care what you think, I love that song" category. This is Both Sides, Now by Judy Collins, written by Joni Mitchell.
