Music Break

It's about time for another set of songs.  First up is Sheryl Crow with Everyday Is A Winding Road, from her eponymous second album.  Neil Finn, then of Crowded House and currently in Fleetwood Mac, provides some backing vocals.

The Scottish group Bay City Rollers were pretty much written off as teenyboppers, but Money Honey, from their 1976 album Rock N' Roll Love Letter, is what I regard as a rocker.  The video shows the group's classic lineup of Les McKeown (lead vocals), Eric Faulkner (lead guitar), Stuart "Woody" Wood (rhythm guitar), Alan Longmuir (bass), and Derek Longmuir (drums).  Faulkner and Wood wrote the song.  Alan L. and Woody could both play keyboards, so one of them might have added the piano.

In 1971, Santana performed the instrumental Jungle Strut for the German TV show Beat Club.  At this time, the band included Carlos Santana and Neil Schon (age 17 back then) on guitar, Gregg Rolie on keyboards, David Brown on bass, Michael Shrieve on drums, and Coke Escovedo (Sheila E.'s uncle), Chepito Areas and Mike Carabello on percussion.  Rolie was also their lead singer, and with Schon would later co-found the band Journey.  There's some banter going on at the beginning of the clip, until they are told to start playing at about the 0:40 mark.

The British group Status Quo released the single Down Down in 1974, and included it on the 1975 album On The Level.  At this time, the band included Francis Rossi (lead guitar), Rick Parfitt (rhythm guitar), Alan Lancaster (bass) and John Coghlan (drums).  Rossi sings this one, which he wrote with Bob Young, who played harmonica during the band's live shows.

To finish, this is Be Chrool To Your Scuel by Twisted Sister, from their 1985 album Come Out And Play.  The band's regular members Dee Snider (lead vocals), Eddie Ojeda (guitar), Jay Jay French (guitar), Mark Mendoza (bass), and A. J. Pero (drums) are joined by guests including Alice Cooper (shared lead vocals), Billy Joel (piano), Clarence Clemons (sax solo), Brian Setzer (guitar solo), Julia Waters (backing vocals), Maxine Waters (backing vocals), a cast of zombies, and last but not least, Bobcat Goldthwait as the teacher.  As far as I know, this Maxine Waters is not the congresscritter from the Los Angeles area.
