Music Break

Once again, a post of this sort has become way overdue.  So before I list my usual things going on, here are some songs that I've come to like.  First up is Sweet Mary by Wadsworth Mansion, who really did name themselves after a mansion.

During the early 1980s, some former members of Frank Zappa's band formed Missing Persons, which came to include Terry Bozzio (drums), his wife Dale Bozzio (vocals), Warren Cuccurullo (guitar), Patrick O'Hearne (bass & keyboards) and Chuck Wild (keyboards).  Only Wild had not previously appeared with Zappa.  This is a remastered version of Words, from their debut album Spring Session M, which is an anagram of the band's name.

The Australian group Little River Band released First Under the Wire in 1979, which includes the rocker It's Not A Wonder.  At this time, the band included Glenn Shorrock (lead vocals), David Briggs (lead guitar), Beeb Birtles (guitar & vocals), Graham Goble (guitar & vocals) and Derek Pellici (drums).  The track includes contributions from guest musicians Clive Harrison (bass) and Peter Sullivan (piano).  Birtles (real name Gerard Bertelkamp) had previously played bass in a band named Zoot.  In the thumbnail (from the album cover) from left to right, are Birtles, Goble, Briggs, Shorrock and Pellici.

In 1980, Queen released The Game, their only album to reach #1 in the United States, which included Coming Soon, written by drummer Roger Taylor.  The video doesn't actually correspond to the song, but was put together by some editor.  The other band members were Freddie Mercury (lead vocals), Brian May (guitar) and John Deacon (bass).

In 2005, two original members of the Cars, lead guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes, formed the New Cars with guitarist/singer Todd Rundgren, bassist Kasim Sulton, and drummer Prairie Prince.  During 2006, they released their only album It's Alive, which consisted mainly of live recording of old Cars songs, but also included a few new songs such as Not Tonight.
