Wayne Allyn Root graduated from Columbia University in 1983, the same year as a transfer from Occidental College named Barack Obama. His take on the president's background is very different than that of the "birthers". According to Root, instead of being a foreigner passing himself off as an American, Obama was an American trying to pass himself off as a foreigner. In doing so, Obama himself would be the first "birther".
