Former Virginia Tech football player David Wilson, known for performing
backflips and
catching a rabbit on campus, was drafted by the New York Giants in 2012 after three years of playing tailback and returning kickoffs for the Hokies. He suffered a neck injury during the 2013 season, after which he underwent an operation to fuse two vertebrae. He had been practicing with the Giants when he suffered another neck injury, after which two doctors advised him to stop playing football.
